Barbara Ann Root

Barbara Ann Root, 58, was born in Rolla, Missouri on May 20, 1958 and went to be with our heavenly father on February 26, 2017. Barbara lived most of her life in Bakersfield, Ca where she met and married the love of her life, Sam Root, 42 years ago. Together, they raised two daughters and have since enjoyed the love of their three granddaughters. Family was everything to Barbara. She loved hard, especially her grandchildren who brought her so much joy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ruby Kelly; her four brothers, Tom Kelly, Don Kelly, Luke Kelly, and Charles Kelly. She is survived by her loving husband, Sam Root; daughters April Cooper (husband Erik) and Jennifer Liebman (husband Noah); granddaughters Emma, Sophia, and Adelyn; sisters Carolyn Serra and Brenda Long; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved. Barbara was blessed with great friends in her life who she treasured dearly. Barbara fought a good fight, she was a strong woman, a pillar for her family and she loved the Lord with all her heart. She will be greatly missed, never forgotten, and always loved. A public viewing will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Kern River Family Mortuary. A graveside service will follow on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Bakersfield National Cemetery. We invite friends and family to come visit and share in her memory after the graveside service, at Highland Knolls Mobile Estates Community Room, 4000 N. Chester Avenue.
