Barbara Jean Gee

Barbara Jean Gee November 6, 1937 - July 26, 2013 Bakersfield resident Barbara Jean Gee passed away suddenly on July 26, 2013. A memorial service will be held at Kern River Family Mortuary on Thursday, July 1 2013 at 5:00 p.m with viewing starting at 3:00 P.M. Barbara was born in Kinsley Kansas on November 6, 1937 to Ada Bethine and Jess Willard Corr. She and her family moved to California and settled permanently in Bakersfield in 1945. She was primarily a homemaker and loved to tend her garden and decorate her home which was always tastefully done. Barbara was a gifted painter and worked in oils and acrylic; and her paintings reflected her creativity and wonderful imagination. She also had a lifelong love of reading. Barbara never met a stranger. She had many friends and acquaintances but she was especially devoted to her family. She took care of her ailing husband and mother until their passing. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Billy Gee, father Jess Corr, mother Beth Corr, and her brother Buford Corr. She is survived by her children David Smith and Connie Gaban, Brother Donald Corr, grand children Laura Nielsen, Nathan Hembree and Caitlin Hembree, four great grandchildren and various cousins and nephews and nieces. Her untimely passing has left a tremendous hole in our hearts. She was greatly loved and will always be missed.
