BETTY WELCH
1939 - 2021
Betty Jean Welch was a thoughtful and notorious "say what is on your mind" aunt, sister, cousin, and friend. She died unexpectedly during a hospital procedure on May 20, 2021 at age 82.
Betty was preceded in death by her grandparents Lee and Olza Robertson; her parents Austin Mayfield and Claudia "Jean" Waldron; her sister, Nancy Taylor; her brother, Jimmie Mayfield; her special aunt, Verna French and her sister-in-law, Joann Mayfield.
She is survived by her nephews, Jake and Joey Mayfield along with their wives and children; her nieces, Roxann Naylor, Steffani Rice, Jill Mayfield, and Jessica Brown along with their husbands and children; her stepdaughter, Nikki Zenchak and stepson, TJ Welch.
Betty enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycle riding in the dunes at Pismo Beach, and loved to entice one of her nieces or friends to go to a yard sale on a Saturday morning whenever the mood would strike. Going to the sporting events of her nieces and nephews, brought joy into her life. She was the loudest "cheerleader" in the crowd. Those who knew her best would vouch that she went out of her way to help you no matter the inconvenience.
Aunt Betty brought laughter and no doubt some embarrassment into all of our lives while speaking her mind. She was the aunt who loved like a mother, though she never had children of her own. She will be dearly missed.
"But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
