Bruce Vernon Winn, born June 19, 1954, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought battle with melanoma on May 18, 2016. Bruce was the son of Norman Winn and Helen Heightsman Gordon and was raised in Visalia, CA where he was an All-American tennis player at Mount Whitney High School. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Bruce served a mission in Uruguay and Paraguay, and devoted time as a beloved teacher and leader in the church. Bruce graduated from Brigham Young University, and married Pamela Wilcox Taylor in 1977 in the Oakland LDS temple. Bruce and Pam made their home in Bakersfield where he worked for over 30 years in agriculture supply. He enjoyed golf, BYU sports, music and reading but his greatest joy was found in spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Pam, four children - Tiffany Rueckert, Travis, Tyler and Cortney Rudez, eight grandchildren, mother Helen, brother Brent and sister Holly Willner. Services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the LDS church on 5500 Fruitvale Ave, Bakersfield, CA. The family will be receiving friends at 10 am, service to follow at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Elysian Gardens in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 27, 2016 next to his father. His family would like to thank the Olive Knolls LDS ward for their continuous love and service, and John Lake and Rain for Rent for their overwhelming support and compassion.
