Chester Oliver Rogers, 77, passed away December 21, 2013 at his residence in Frazier Park, California. Chester was born January 24, 1936 in Gilbertown, Alabama to parents Samuel Earl, Sr. and Verna Vivian (McRae) Rogers. He was a grandson of Samuel O. Rogers, who was one of the founders of Gilbertown, Alabama. Chet was proud of his work as a heavy equipment operator for fifty years as he contributed to many existing structures in the mountains of California. He loved the community of Frazier Park, where he lived for over forty years, caring for his ranch and enjoying life, making memories with his wife, children and grandchildren. Chet enjoyed nature, traveling, spending time with his family and educating them on a variety of subjects, which sometimes would turn into a friendly debate or bet. He enjoyed sharing the family history and heritage which was appreciated by many trips back to Alabama, and always included a stop to visit his family in Texas. Chet is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louella Rogers; son, Mark Rogers; sisters and brothers, Patricia, Rex, Robert, Samuel Earl, Jr., Mack Ray, Emery Rogers, and Olive Eloise (Rogers) Glendrange. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Rhonda Lee and husband, Larry, Steve Rogers and wife, Louann; Sandy Kelley and husband, Mike; nine grandchildren; life-long friend, Betty Moates; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A service to remember Chester will be held at a later date.
