Elsie Frances Hurst

Elsie Francis Hurst was born on Dec. 29, 1915 and went peacefully to be with the Lord on September 28, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born in Texanne, Okla to Rev. H. S. and Edna Nance and lived in McFarland since 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Isaac Hurst, daughter Janita Hurst, sisters Dovie Chancellor and Mamie Hart. She is survived by her children Donald Hurst (Ellen) of Bakersfield and Gary Hurst of McFarland. Four Grandchildren, Clark(Ellen) Hurst, Bakersfield, Terri(Tim) Pratt, Las Vegas, Bruce Hurst of McFarland and Charlene (Felipe) Neri, Bakersfield, Three Great grandchildren, Kristen(Doug) Wright, Oceanside, Tyler Hurst, Carlsbad, and Caleb Neri, Bakersfield, Two Great, great grandchildren, Bradyn and Kylee Wright of Oceanside. Elsie was a loving mother and grandmother, a great cook, good house keeper, loved flowers and her yard, grew and canned fruits and vegetables, pretty good carpenter, an excellent seamstress and great quilter as many of her friends know. She was an accomplished piano and organ player.
Visitation will be at Kern River Mortuary, 1900 N. Chester Ave. Bakersfield, CA from 5 to 7 on Friday, Oct. 4 and graveside service will be at North Kern Cemetery District at 9 am Oct. 5, 2013, 627 Austin St. Delano, CA in the old section.
