Karen Lynn Sabow

Karen Lynn Sabow was born to Bill and Evelyn McCalla on October 23 1949 in Santa Monica California.
Karen was set up on a blind date where she met the love of her life , John Sabow. They were married a short time later on November 6,1971 . They eventually found their home to be in Bakersfield and raised 2 children; Brian and Sandi.
Karen was happy to be family focused in the early years while the kids were younger. When they got older she pursued her interest in writing and worked as a writer for the classifieds section of the Bakersfield Californian. She was extremely talented artistically and enjoyed painting. Other hobbies that sparked her interest were crafts, artwork, gardening, playing billards and most importantly quilting. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking with her grandaughter and watching her grandchildren swim in her pool.
Karen fought a long and brave battle with cancer for 14 yrs. She was very courageous in her battle and inspired others. Her spirit and attitude helped many others through tough times with the counseling she offered for people with cancer. She has left many memories for all to enjoy for years to come.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Bill. She is survived by her mother Evelyn, loving husband John, son Brian, daughter Sandi and 3 grandchildren Kassi, Kolton and Kellan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Optimal Hospice for there excellent care and kindness.
