Laura Clayton Summers July 30th, 1941 - December 24th, 2024
Laura Clayton Summers, a beloved wife, mother, nana and friend to all, passed away on the morning of Christmas Eve at the age of 83. Laura was born on July 30th, 1941 in Buckeye, Arizona to Sylvester and Thelma Walker, while migrating to California during the Dust Bowl.
Laura married Charley Holman in McFarland at the age of 16 and was a devoted wife and mother, who later went back to high school and graduated at the age of 23. She was a member of the McFarland Women's Club and enjoyed Bridge Club and participating in the kids school activities.
After the death of her first husband, she met and married Ernie Summers in 1979. Ernie and Laura enjoyed their time together running his dairy product business and doing extensive traveling, including their favorite destination Pismo Coast Village. Later, Laura attended Bakersfield College and earned her AA in child development. She went on to work for NOR at multiple school locations, until her retirement in 2009.
Laura was an avid card player who loved Elvis, painting, board games, Jeopardy, Trivial Pursuit, puzzles, twirling her baton, baking, line dancing, traveling with the Rovers RV Club and spending time with her family.
After a 10+ year struggle with dementia, our amazing mom and nana was taken from us.
Laura leaves behind her children Lezlie Whittington, Chuck Holman, Jason Holman and Gary Summers, 11 grandkids, 11 great grandkids and her sister Melva Rosson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Thelma Walker, her first husband Charley Holman and her second husband Ernie Summers.
