PAULINE EDNA YOUNG
Pauline Edna Young, age 97, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2012. Pauline was born May 7, 1915 at Famosa, Kern, California to parents Walter and Alice Corbett. During the depression the family moved to Atascadero, California and Pauline graduated from Atascadero High School. She married Elden Young in 1937. They moved to Avenal, California where their daughter Karen was born. During WWII they lived in Utah and Missouri and then moved back to Bakersfield.
Pauline was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pauline will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and a very skilled homemaker. She was an excellent cook and loved sewing and crafts. She made countless baby blankets for charity. She was proficient in home-canning of foods raised in the family garden and in food storage. Pauline and Elden served in the Loas Angeles Temple and enjoyed every minute of service there.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Alice Corbett, husband Elden Young, sister Gwen Kinney, and brother James Corbett. She is survived by daughter Karen Young, nephews Tom Corbett (Jean), Jim Kinney (Donna), Stephen Young, Gary Young, nieces, Sandra Gardner (Bob), and Gail Young.
Gratitude and thankfulness is extended to the staff at the Meadows, Hoffman Hospice, Leeann, and Paulines’s wonderful friends from the Church who gave of their time and talents comforting her.
Viewing will be Friday June 22, 2012 from 09:00 – 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1201 South Real Road. Graveside Service following at 10:30 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park, South West.
