Percy S. Thompsett Jr

Percy Shine Thompsett Jr., 89, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on September 16, 2024. Percy was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on January 14, 1935 to Percy Shine Thompsett, Sr. and Grace Beatrice (Taylor) Thompsett. Percy had a strong faith and lived his life through the word of God. He was a man of few words, soft spoken, and the kindest person you would ever meet. In his younger days, he played basketball at Battle Creek Central High School where he graduated and also played at Michigan State before enlisting in the US Army in 1955. He enjoyed playing golf and was excellent at woodworking and making furniture. 

Survived by his daughter Lezlie Chaffin and her husband Mark; stepson Michael Ludwick of Florida; two brothers Jim Thompsett of Michigan, Joe Thompsett and his wife Sue of Michigan; five grandchildren Kelli and Ben Chaffin, Alexandra, Ian and his wife Alyssa, and Celeste Thompsett. 

Preceded by his parents; his wife of 50 years Louise (Bailey) (Ludwick) Thompsett; the mother of all his children Nadjii Lee, their two sons Brett Scott Thompsett and Brandon J. Thompsett; brother Dennis Thompsett; two sister Margaret Slayton and Priscilla Cantrell. 

Percy’s memories will always remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place at Kern River Family Mortuary and burial will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. No services will be held.
