Robert Aguayo Castro

Nov. 2, 1951 - Feb. 14, 2024Robert was born on November 2, 1951 and passed away on February 14, 2024. He was born to Enrique and Maria Castro in Mettler, CA, the 2nd of 5 children. Robert graduated from Foothill High School in Bakersfield in 1970. He worked at Garone Farms alongside his father and brothers in his early years during and after high school and while later going to Bakersfield College. He loved flying and became a licensed private pilot flying mostly locally in Kern County. It was his passion. Robert also loved photography and took classes at Bakersfield College, eventually becoming a professional photographer doing photo shoots at many weddings, quinceaneras, anniversaries and birthdays. He eventually worked for the Roads Department for Kern County and worked there 25 years, retiring in 2004. Working outdoors in the field for the Roads Department, he was able to see many parts of Kern County that most people never see. He was always awestruck with the beauty of rural areas, especially the hills and mountains surrounding Bakersfield and the eastern desert areas of Kern County. Robert loved older homes in Bakersfield and began purchasing several older East Bakersfield homes and renovating them. He was always very impressed with the craftsmanship of the woodwork in those older homes. He later had a country home built on 60 acres in the hills east of Bakersfield.

Robert is survived by his two sons, Justin Castro and Nicolas Castro, brother John Castro (wife Zina), sister in law, Pam Castro, sisters,Teresa Covarrubias de Mateo (husband Manuel) of Guadalajara, Mexico, Obie Delano, Angie Michaels (husband Al) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, great nephews and great nieces. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Luisa Aguayo Castro, his father, Enrique Solis Castro, his brother, Arthur Aguayo Castro and brother Jose Aguayo
