RONALD CARL MILLARD
Ron was born in Rapid City ND on February 11,1929. He passed away June 9, 2024 in Bakersfield CA.
His parents were Edward Carl Millard and Ruth Alice Hollister married Feb 1928. They had three boys Ronald, Darrell, and Ervin. Edward was a heavy equipment operator building roads, bridges, and dams and the family moved with him in a trailer from site to site. Their first trailer was a 24 foot wood box pulled on skids by heavy tractor and lined with remnants of dynamite boxes on the walls for insulation. The family moved through many states and the boys attended several schools each year.
The family moved to California about 1945 and Ron graduated Salinas H S in 1948. He then attended Hartnell College in Salinas where he received his Airframe and Engine license and learned to fly airplanes. Ron was a life long mechanic who could tear down just about anything and put it back together meticulously. He loved flying airplanes and was a crop duster for 40 years retiring from the skies at age 66.
He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and he was state side working as an airplane mechanic. Just last October Ron went on the Honor Flight for veterans to Washingron DC and was accompanied by his granddaughter Jamie Keller (husband Eric Maldin).
Ron married Sue Ellen Coffey (1955-1976) and later married Dolores Virginia Wilson (1979-2023) until her passing. Ron and Dolores had many interests like Kern Mineral Society, ceramics, traveling in their travel trailer, church activities and spending time with friends.
Ronald is survived by his brother Ervin. His daughters Sandra Millard and Judy Corbett (husband James). Stepdaughters Linda Smith (Jeff Holding) and Judy Keller (James). Grandchildren Brad Corbett (Margarita), Lauren Mahan (Wes and child Ellen), Brenner Corbett (Alisha & child Nora).
There were many grandchildren and great grand children and special people like Jennifer Shrader, Chris Hedland and Tom Shrader who he considered family.
