Wanda Evelyn Austin

Wanda Baughn (Clinton) Austin was born February 17, 1934, in Asher, OK, and went to be with Jesus on October 11, 2013. In 1950, Wanda met and married Leonard Clinton and they began their life and family together. In 1965, they moved from Lamont, CA, to Seneca, MO, to a farm they called “Happy Acres”. Many friendships and fond memories were made during that time. In 1977, Wanda married W.D. Austin and they made their home in Arvin, CA, where they became foster parents to over 150 babies. Infants and newborns struggling to survive were her specialty. She could take a 3 pound baby and fatten him up in a moment’s time.

Wanda was a kind and fun-loving person. She loved people and never met a stranger in her entire life. She was the life of every party and the favorite at every celebration. In later years, she struggled with life issues that kept her from being a part of people’s lives on a daily basis…but today she is in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…no more pain or sorrow and free from all burdens. Wanda was loved by all who knew her and will be forever remembered in our hearts.

Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Candace Sherilynn Clinton, her mother, Jessie Costilow, her father, Orbra Baughn, and her daddy for a lifetime, Lige Costilow. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Vickie & Rick Jolliff, Robin & Corby Robinson, and Lyndace & Troy Wells, her grandsons Christopher Joliff (Darcie), Casey Robinson, and Ben and Brent Wells, her granddaughter, Haley Robinson, and one great grandson, Christian Jolliff. In addition, she is survived by sisters Glenda Fritchey and Wilma (Bobby) Shugart, brother Truman Baughn (Kathryn), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at Arvin Assembly of God Church.
