William Morton Morris passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019 at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 77 years old. Bill was a lifelong California resident that lived the final 39 years of his life in Bakersfield. Bill was born to Robert & Jean Morris on October 11, 1941 in Maywood, CA . He grew up in LA and spent his summers with his grandparents in Southern Utah where he developed a love of horses & the cowboy life. He was a hard working left handed boy that enjoyed scouting and the beach. He went on to graduate from Brigham Young University and then attended USC for Business school. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a 2.5 year mission to Berlin, Germany and returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Ellen Croff in the Los Angeles LDS temple on June 5, 1964. Bill was a Banker turned Entrepreneur and Businessman. He had a HUGE heart and a gift for gab. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ellen Morris of Bakersfield; 6 children,Matthew Morris (Patti), Bill Morris (Jennifer), Beth Menden (Craig), Julie Wilson (Matt), Jon Morris and Amy Bluth (Brian), 22 Grandchildren & 7 great children. He is preceded in death by his parents & brother, Robert David Jr. Services will be held in his honor on Friday evening, May 31st at the chapel at 316 A Street in Bakersfield CA. Viewing will be held at 4:00pm with funeral services starting at 5:00pm. His final resting place will be in Santa Clara, Utah with a graveside service on Saturday June 1st at 4:00pm. Kern River Family Mortuary of Bakersfield & Hugh’s of St. George will be taking care of the arrangements. If we could all have a “Bill” Heart” the world would be a better place.
